Discovery of man's body in container in Dublin being treated as 'personal tragedy'

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the discovery of a man's body inside a container in Dublin say they are treating the case as a personal tragedy pending the outcome of a post-mortem.

The body, believed to be that of a man in his 40's, was discovered at approximately 10.50am yesterday, November 25th in the Balbutcher Lane area of Ballymun in Dublin's Northside.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí said in a statement that they were investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery, and the man's body remained at the scene for a time while a technical examination was carried out.

Following the technical examination, Gardaí released an updated statement confirming they were now treating the man's death as a personal tragedy, however they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death as they await a post-mortem to be carried out, with the Garda Press Office saying: “Pending the outcome of the postmortem, An Garda Síochána are treating this case as a personal tragedy at this time".

The unnamed man's body has now been moved to Dublin City Morgue in Whitehall ahead of the post-mortem examination, which is due to be carried out later today.

They have not requested any further action from the public at this time.
