Donegal fisherman shares stunning footage of boat out at sea among waves during Storm Aiden

A DONEGAL fisherman has shared breathtaking footage of his boat out at sea during the worst of Storm Aiden.

Ireland felt the full force of the storm front this weekend, with high winds and heavy rain forcing the majority of people indoors.

Worse still, the extreme weather resulted in flooding in some homes while others were left without power thanks to the destructive force of Storm Aiden.

However, for fisherman Shaun McClenaghan it was just another day at the office.

Eager to showcase an example of the kind of extreme weather conditions he faces as part of his everyday job, he decided to capture some of the chaos on camera.

Posted on his Twitter account @shaunmc, the video shows how much the ocean was left rocking as a result of Storm Aiden.

While Shaun’s boat sways from side to side, giant foreboding waves can be seen rising in the background.

Like something out of a Hollywood film, the video makes for difficult viewing – especially if you happen to have a weak stomach or struggle with sea travel.

In any case the video does demonstrate the incredible work and efforts of fishermen like Shaun, who was out fishing for 24 hours straight out at Rockall, some 260 miles off the Donegal coast in these unsettling conditions.
