A dog was killed in the incident.
A shooting incident in Granard, Co. Longford has resulted in one man being injured and a dog killed.
As part of an on-going investigation by Gardai from Longford, they attended at an incident in Granard earlier this evening the 3rd of December 2018.
During the course of this incident an official Garda firearm was discharged.
According to RTÉ, Gardaí were involved in a confrontation which led to an Alsatian dog being shot and the ricochet injured a nearby man in the leg.
The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission and An Garda Siochana are currently investigating the incident.
