Irish man dead after drowning in sea during Storm Callum

The man was swept out to sea when visiting Brighton over the weekend.

A 38-year-old Irish man has lost his life from a drowning incident on Saturday.

Sussex Police received a report of a man in the sea near West Street in Brighton, at 1.21am on October 13.

Coastguards, police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene.

The man was retrieved from the water but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Sussex police said next of kin to the deceased have been informed and the matter has been passed to the Coroner’s Officer.
