POLICE in Ireland are hunting a man believed to be carrying a firearm after an attempted robbery at a post office.

It is the second time in the last year-and-a-half that the post office in Cork has been targeted.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to the incident at Grenagh post office, which is located just outside Cork city, to come forward.

The man was wearing a hoodie, scarf, baseball hat and a blue/green puffa jacket.

He is around 5'6" and was seen on CCTV in front of the post office just before the incident took place.

He left the scene on foot, leaving a screwdriver behind, after he was confronted at the entrance of the post office.

Witnesses are asked to contact gardaí.
