Police hunt in Dublin for Birmingham man wanted over 'indecent images'

POLICE have issued an appeal to find a Birmingham man believed to be hiding in Dublin, who is wanted in connection with downloading indecent images.

David Swift, 53, of Phillip Sidney Road, Birmingham, is believed to have fled the country after failing to appear at Birmingham Crown Court last December.

Following Swift's disappearance, the police issued a public appeal in March for information.

West Midlands Police are renewing their appeal as they now believe he has connections to the Swords area of Dublin.

Gardaí are now searching the Irish capital for Scottish-born Swift.

Detective Constable Lindsey Seeley, from the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: “We continue to make enquiries and we will continue to search for him. We are led to believe that he may have connections to the Swords area of Ireland, a region of Dublin.

“However, we cannot be certain that he is in Ireland and I would appeal to anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact their local police as soon as possible.”

Swift was born in Stirling, Scotland, and is described as white, around 5ft 9inches tall with a Scottish accent.

Anyone with information is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101.
