PSNI arrest Birmingham man in connection with international drug supply investigation

POLICE in the North of Ireland have arrested a 20-year-old man in Birmingham in connection with an on-going investigation into the supply of ‘skunk’ cannabis.

Detectives from the Reactive and Organised Crime Branch arrested the man on Tuesday, December 15 and he will be questioned at Musgrave police station in Belfast.

To date, 18 people have been arrested as part of this international investigation, 12 of whom have been charged, and more than £2 million worth of cannabis has been seized.

The PSNI is working alongside with Italy's military police force who previously made arrests and seizures in connection with this joint major investigation.

Detective Inspector Andy Dunlop, who is leading the investigation, said: “ “Our objective is to ensure we identify and apprehend as many of those allegedly involved in this criminality and bring them before the courts, as well as seize drugs and as many criminal assets as possible.

“Our investigation will continue for some time and I anticipate further arrests. We never close a case until all lines of inquiry have been exhausted.”
