Teenager arrested over attempted armed robbery at takeaway

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested over an attempted armed robbery of a takeaway.

On Thursday, October 19 a man entered a takeaway in Co. Down with a suspected firearm and demanded cash from frightened staff, before making off empty handed.

The incident took place at around 9.20pm in the Rathgael Road area of Bangor.

PSNI officers investigating the incident have since made an arrest.

“A 17-year-old boy was arrested in the Bangor area on October, 22 on suspicion of a number of offences, including attempted robbery and carrying a firearm with criminal intent,” they confirmed.

The boy has since been released on police bail following questioning “to allow for further enquiries to take place into the investigation” they added.

Officers are still urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1940 19/10/23,” they state.

“Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
