AN IRISH pub has shared hilarious footage of a man trying and failing miserably to steal an entire keg of beer from its premise.
D’Anglers pub in Cork City is currently closed as a result of the ongoing coronavirus lockdown in place across Ireland.
And it would appear that one punter is missing the bar so much, he decided to take the law into his own hands – or at least that was the plan.
Captured on the pub’s newly-installed CCTV system the man, seen wearing a tracksuit with his hood up, has been dubbed ‘Ireland’s dumbest criminal” following his hapless exploits.
In the footage he can be seen attempting to get a keg over an 8ft fence.
He soon learns, however, that kegs are not only incredibly heavy but almost impossible to lift on your own.
It’s not for a lack of trying though, with the man making several attempts to lift the keg over the high fence but all to no avail.
Eventually he gives up, but that’s not likely to be the last of it.
When staff saw the idiotic thief on CCTV they decided to add some classic Benny Hill mysic over the top of it and share the video on Facebook.
Writing alongside the clip, the pub described it as “Episode 1 of Many. I hereby declare Ireland’s Dumbest criminal competition open.
“Bit of background: Our CCTV system alerted us to an intruder last night. He thought it was a good idea to try to lift a cleaning keg over an 8ft fence right before he fell and nearly broke his neck.
“Gardai attended but our friend seemed to flee.
“I have a reward here if anyone can help us locate this sausage.”
“I’ll post another clip tomorrow.”
An amusing aside in these otherwise uncertain times, here’s hoping the good times come back to Cork and D’Anglers soon.
