WATCH: Irish skiers hit the slopes as snow falls on Donegal mountain

YOU don't traditionally think of Ireland as a haven for skiers, but anyone out in the peaks of Donegal's Glenveagh National Park yesterday would disagree.

With the mercury dropping to below freezing and mercilessly refusing to climb again, Donegal-natives decided to make the most of it by turning the beautiful Errigal Mountain into a scene from the Winter Olympics.

Locals grabbed their equipment and headed for the mountain top, which was layered in a pristine blanket of white powder.

Puzzled hikers could only look on in amazement.

The weather is set to worsen in the coming days, according to Met Eireann.

Temperatures dropped to -4C on Thursday and and are due to drop to around -3C this evening.

Plenty of frost is forecasted over the weekend and drivers are being warned of black ice on the roads.

The 'Beast from the East', which shivered us to the core back in March 2018, is back for another round, and it's good to know that there are plenty out there who seeing it as an opportunity for a bit of fun!
