DRUGS with an estimated street value of €950k has been seized at Dublin Airport.
Herbal cannabis worth €584k and crystal meth worth €368k were found in vacuum-packaged packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight originating in Canada.
Revenue officers operating at Dublin Airport made the discovery on August 9, with the help of their detector dog Charlie.
The drugs seized at Dublin Airport“This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs,” a Revenue spokesperson said.
“If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295,” they added.
A woman aged in her 50s has since been arrested in connection with the incident and is being held at a station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
