Woman refuses to pay for meal telling restaurant staff: ‘This one’s on God’

THE LORD truly works in mysterious ways.

Or at least, that’s what 30-year-old Delila Hernandez from New Mexico in the US would have you believe.

This week, she found herself up in court on charges of theft after attempting to make off with a takeaway meal from the Sonic restaurant in Las Cruces without paying for it.

According to a report from Las Cruces Sun News, she found a novel way to avoid footing the bill: by summoning the power of the Almighty.

After the food arrived and it came time to pay, Delila took the meal and made off on her bike, telling her server: “this one is on God”.

Unfortunately, her server saw things differently. The police were duly called to the scene of the crime and eventually came across Delila eating the meal in a nearby park.

Though the court documents quoted in the report indicate she felt bad about the theft but ultimately went through it because she was hungry, she is now facing charges of felony robbery following her arrest.

She’s now praying that her layer will succeed in having the charge downgraded to a petty misdemeanour, though that may yet require something approaching a minor miracle.
