CLUB NOTES

TIR CHONAILL GAELS

The seniors were defeated at the weekend by the narrowest of margins going down to St Kiernans 0-13 to 0-12 after extra time in the semi-final of the Conway Cup. It’s back to the league next weekend when the Gaels face Round Towers on Saturday, 6th August at 3pm at Mitcham. The Juniors had a busy, but successful week with two wins out of two. Firstly, a comfortable win over Harlesden Harps in the Homegrown competition on Tuesday evening 2-15 to 0-09. This was followed up by a 0-10 to 0-09 win over St Anthony’s in the league at the weekend.

THOMAS MCCURTAINS

Both our men’s teams were unlucky not to come away with something in their games last weekend. The footballers lost out to a last minute free against Eire Og on Tuesday evening in Downhills Park and came up short against a physical Tara's team on Sunday. The hurlers didn't fare much better as they lost their first championship match against Fr Murphys. Next weekend there is only one fixture. Our footballers will be looking to bounce back strongly as they play Shalloe Pearse in the Championship in Greenford. The Camogs will represent McCurtains, London and Britain as they take part in the World Games in Ireland next week.

TARA

The Tara Youth Summer Camp ran from Monday to Friday. It was a huge success with children from reception to U16 boys and girls taking part in an action packed week. There were more than 140 children each day mostly from Tara with other GAA clubs were represented also. The week was organised by Tina Tracey. The presentations Friday after noon were led by Brendie Brien Secretary of Provincial Council, Mohamad Butt leader of Brent and Councillor Mary Daly. Thank to everyone who helped but special thanks to all the children that attended. Good luck to the Tara U12 players that will be playing with London in Croke Park next Saturday evening.

ST BRENDAN’S LONDON

St Brendan’s were beaten by Cu Chulainns in the Division Two league on Saturday afternoon in Greenford. The second round on the Intermediate Championship takes place next weekend with the club scheduled to play St. Joseph’s. Training takes place on every Tuesday and Thursday at Green School, Busch Corner, London Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 5BB- just beside Syon Station.

GLASGOW GAELS

The club is delighted to announce that we've been successful in receiving funding from Awards for All Scotland for this year's training and community outreach projects. We want to thank the Big Lottery Fund for all their support in this endeavour. On the pitch, both the Senior and Junior men see action this week versus Glasgow rivals Tir Conaill Harps. Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, at Peterson Park. Throw-ins are both at 7.30pm. The ladies will take on Aberdeen side Dalriada on the 6th of August, looking to make a good start defending last year's Junior title. The club will also hold its annual County Colours Night on the 27th August in Malones Bar in Glasgow. All are very welcome. Please check our Facebook page for further detail. Whether you’re a novice or inter-county player, the Gaels are always looking for new players and members. Please do get in contact if you’re interested: [email protected].

DULWICH HARPS

Firstly, the club would like to congratulate the London Ladies on winning the British Championship final against Lancashire. The Dulwich ladies were also in action in the Tom O’Connor Cup semi-final against Tir Chonaill Gaels recently, winning on a scoreline of 7-26 to 2-04. The final will take place against St. Anthony’s on October 16th. Further information will be available closer to the time. Dulwich Harps GAA Club is one of the oldest Gaelic Football Clubs in London. Based in Peckham, we cater for players – Men’s and Ladies teams, Youth boys’ and girls’ teams – in Greenwich, Bromley, Clapham, Balham and a large area in south and east London.

LANCASHIRE GAA

Lancashire GAA was given a great opportunity to promote our sport at the recent Wythenshawe Games. This event was organised by the Manchester Sport Partnership and it gave children the chance to try many different sports including Gaelic Football. Despite all of the major sporting organisations being present, we are pleased to say that our pitch was the busiest on the day.
