Katie McCabe has signed a new contract with Arsenal

Katie McCabe has signed a new contract with Arsenal. The Dublin native will stay in north London for the foreseeable future.

McCabe has become a cult hero for her country, but also for her club side Arsenal over the years. The Republic of Ireland captain has made 193 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Shelbourne in December 2015, scoring 31 goals in that timeframe.

The 28-year-old has also won one Barclays FA Women’s Super League title, one Women’s FA Cup, and two FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cups during her time with the Women's Super League side.

The achievements for McCabe don't stop there. She also won Arsenal's 2022/23 Player of the Season and the WSL Goal of the Season in year just gone.

Speaking about the move, McCabe admitted that she was excited about the new deal at Arsenal.

“Arsenal is home for me, and I’m excited to have committed my future to this football club,” said Katie. “I’ve grown up here as a player and a person and developed a really special bond with our supporters, which means a lot to me.

"Over the years, I’ve experienced some amazing moments here – but I believe that the best is yet to come, and I know the aim here at Arsenal is to compete for the highest honours.”

Head Coach Jonas Eidevall also echoed his own player's sentiments and added that the club is keen to see what McCabe brings in the new season.

“Katie McCabe brings us so much on and off the pitch, so we are delighted to say that she has signed a new contract here with us. She has been one of the top performers in world football over the past few years, and her quality and character are integral to what we do here.

"We were very proud to see how she stepped up as captain when called upon last season, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together moving forward.”

Arsenal starts their WSL campaign at home against Liverpool on Sunday. The game starts at 2pm.
