Watch! Moment Ireland's show jumpers missed out on Olympic qualification

IRELAND'S show jumping team controversially missed out on an Olympic spot in Rio next summer over the weekend.

The team finished 0.380 penalties behind final qualifiers Spain at the European Championships in Aachen, Germany.

A member of the arena staff ran in front of Cian O’Connor during his ride, before jumping into a flowerbed.

The London 2012 individual bronze medallist would have helped his team secure qualification for the 2016 Olympics had he cleared his round.

Irish equestrian chiefs are considering an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
