Presentation Of The Shamrock to kick off St Pat's Festival in Nottingham

THIS year's St Patrick's Day Festival celebrations in Nottingham kick off with the ceremonial handing over of the shamrock to Councillor Ian Malcolm the Lord Mayor of Nottingham by members of the Nottingham Regional Rose Centre of the Rose of Tralee Festival.

The presentation of the Shamrock will take place at the Council House on Wednesday, March 11 at 12.30 in advance of the big day on Tuesday 17 March.

The Shamrock will be piped into the Council House by a lone piper, John St John, who traditionally pipes in the St Patrick’s Day Parade into the Old Market Square in Nottingham.

The presentation will be undertaken by Claire Regan who was selected to represent Nottingham at last year’s Rose of Tralee Festival in Ireland.

The 2015 Rose selection will take place on Saturday, May 2 at the Greyfrairs Social Club, Gordon Road, Nottingham NG3 3LG.
