Netflix looking for Irish girls 5'10" and taller for lead role in new movie

Tall? Irish? Female? Get auditioning!

Netflix are looking to cast an Irish girl 5'10" or over in height for a new live-action comedy film.

Auditions are open to young women between the ages of 13 and 21 worldwide for the lead role in the upcoming 2019 blockbuster Tall Girl.

The flick will be directed by Nzingha Stewart – who previously worked on Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars and How To Get Away With Murder – and centres around protagonist Jodi, the tallest girl in her school.

The plot will see Jodi struggle through high school life as a long-legged student who can't go a day without feeling like an outcast.

Tall Girl is written by entertainment writer Sam Wolfson, while casting director Barbara McCarthy previously worked on Netflix's new festive flick The Christmas Chronicles.

Casting applications are open until November 21 and filming will commence in January 2019.

Melissa Cobb, vice president of kids and family at Netflix, said: "At Netflix we are committed to being a platform where tweens can find movies that inspire and empower them.

"One of the many reasons we’re excited to make Tall Girl is the refreshing way it speaks to this audience with humour and heart about embracing what makes them different and special using height as a framing device.

"We look forward to canvassing the world for our very own Tall Female Lead who can draw on her unique experience to authentically depict the challenges and the lessons wrapped up in this tricky stage of life."
