SAVE THE DATE: Annual race night in aid of London Irish charity the Aisling Project returns

THE annual race night held to raise funds for the Aisling Return to Ireland Project will go ahead this year – as long as Covid-19 restrictions allow.

Held at Windsor Racecourse, the 2021 fundraiser will mark the fourth instalment of the popular event, as the 2020 offering was cancelled due to the pandemic.

This week Tom Corkery, Chairman of the Friends of the Aisling Project committee, which organises the event, confirmed it was all systems go for this year, after receiving the unanimous backing of committee members and the charity.

“Immediately, once the decision to go ahead was made known, we had a number of sponsors on board with the Gallagher Group, Murphy and Coinford sponsoring the first three races,” he told The Irish Post, who are media partners for the event.

“A number of companies and individuals who attended the event in previous years have already pledged to take tables and avail of sponsorship packages,” he added.

The Aisling Return To Ireland Project was founded over 25 years ago in Camden, north London.

Led by Alex McDonnell, the charity helps vulnerable Irish people living across the capital to reconnect with their homeland by hosting five supported holidays to different counties in Ireland over the course of each year.

A range of sponsorship options are available for companies who wish to support the charity race night, which takes place on Tuesday, September 7.

“There will be a number of sponsorship packages revealed over the next few weeks,” Mr Corkery confirmed.

“The night will include all the usual entertainment including our own marquee, a two-course meal, with some drinks and a band as well as the all-important race tipster.”

Windsor Racecourse has also confirmed that a full refund will be made if the event  has to be cancelled because of coronavirus restrictions, so racegoers can make book to attend with confidence.

“Please save the date in your diary for now and the organising committee will shortly publish more details of tickets, tables and sponsorship,” Mr Corkery added.

“We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on September 7, and a return to normality with a great night’s racing, food, drink and entertainment while doing great work to raise funds for this amazing charity.”
