'I am Adolf Hitler' – Chilling video posted by man accused of beheading his own mother with axe as he appears in court charged with her murder

THE son of a woman who was found decapitated at her home in Co. Louth has appeared in court charged with her murder, after he ranted about "Adolf Hitler" and "black magic" in a newly-discovered video.

Tomasz Piotrowski, 32, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon just 90 minutes after his mother Elzbieta (Elizabeth), 57, was found dead in the hallway of her home in Ardee – around 20 km (12 miles) southwest of Dundalk – at approximately 11.30am.

The Polish-born mother-of-two is alleged to have been partially beheaded and an axe was found at the scene by investigating Gardaí.

Mr Piotrowski, with an address at Cherrybrook also in Ardee, was charged with murder and remanded in custody during a short hearing at Drogheda District Court this morning.

His solicitor told the court he had serious concerns over his client's mental health and Judge John Cheatle ordered that he receive the appropriate medical attention.

The alleged killer, who spoke only to say "no comment" after he was charged, must apply to the High Court for bail given the extreme nature of the case.

Mr Piotrowski declared that he was the "real Adolf Hitler" in footage which emerged in the wake of Tuesday's incident.

He also claimed his mother had used "black magic" on him and went on to denounce Elzbieta as his mother, saying: "This is not my mother. This is not my real mother.

"Elizabeth, this blondie one who living with me in Clonmore. She was using and doing on me black magic."

The 32-year-old also discussed his childhood in Poland as well as UFOs, trains and gemstones during the incoherent rant.

Ominously, he added: "I’m sorry but I need help. I know what I have to do now."

A post-mortem was carried out on Ms Piotrowski's body on Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Mr Piotrowski was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Thursday.
