Body of man, 44, found in Irish mountains

GARDAI are investigating after a man was found dead in the Slieve Bloom mountains in Co. Laois.

It's understood that his remains were found around 1pm on Tuesday, in an area known as The Cut in Clonaslee near to the border with Co. Offaly.

The body has since been removed and taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where a post-mortem examination by the State Pathologist will take place today.

Gardaí say they are investigating all circumstances following the discovery.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: "Enquires are ongoing and the course of investigation will be determined by the outcome of the post-mortem."
