Cork teacher wins Rose of Tralee for Luxembourg

The 2012 Rose of Tralee is Luxembourg Rose Nicola McEvoy.

Host Dáithí Ó Sé announced the winning Rose in front of one million television viewers and an audience of over 2000 people in the Festival Dome in Kerry last night.

The secondary school teacher can now lay claim to the title of the 54th Rose of Tralee.

The 26 year old, originally from near Blarney in Co Cork, has been teaching at the European School of Luxembourg for almost two years.

She sang La Vie en Rose during her interview on stage with host Dáithí O Sé.

Ireland Rugby legend Ronan O’Gara, who is an ambassador for the Festival’s lead sponsors Newbridge Silverware, joined the 2011 Rose of Tralee Tara Talbot in presenting Nicola with her tiara, sash and trophy.

The Cork native was delighted and said her week in Tralee was an amazing experience.

She says she has a great love of Kerry and has been a regular visitor to the Kingdom, but is very much looking forward to a year of travelling the world as the Rose of Tralee.
