Dublin Man (70s) dies after his car smashes into lorry on M50

A MAN in his 70s has died after a collision between a car and a lorry on Dublin's M50.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following the tragic incident which occurred around 2.50pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash on the hard shoulder of the M50 between junctions 12 and 13 on the southbound carriageway.

It's understood that the driver of the car, a man in his 70s, collided with the rear of the lorry, and was killed by the impact.

His body was removed and taken to Dublin City Mortuary where a post-mortem examination will now take place.

The driver of the lorry was reportedly uninjured.

Gardai are now asking anyone in the area at the time with any dash-cam footage to come forward to help in their investigation.
