A status yellow snow-ice warning was given for the whole island of Ireland, with Ulster and Connacht set to get the worst effects today.

Frosty and snowy showers will give predicted accumulation of 3 cm of snow, with a larger amount of snowfall expected on mountainous areas and on higher ground.

The snow-ice warning was set to last until tonight but it has since been extended by Met Éireann.

The warning has predicted serious showers of hail, sleet and snow throughout the day and tonight continue accumulating snowfall.

The newest warning was issued today at 12:19 pm and is valid from tonight at midnight to last until tomorrow morning at 6 am.
