Gardai investigating disturbing appearance of 13 dead rabbits laid outside school

GARDAI IN Cork are investigating the alarming discovery of 13 dead rabbits found laid out on a footpath close to a school.

Officers from Fermoy in Co Cork are asking locals from the village of Conna to come forward with any information they may have regarding the gruesome find.

The investigation came to light following the appearance of a grisly picture capturing the discovery which was posted on the Conna Community Council Facebook page.

It was taken outside a primary school in the village. There has been speculation that some of the young children attending the school may have also witnessed the unsavoury scene, but these reports are so far unconfirmed.

The post on the Conna Community Council Facebook page reads: "Why in the world would anyone lay out thirteen dead rabbits in a row on the path to the school this morning?"

"Some of them just babies. Thanks to Patrick for clearing them away.

"Sorry for the children who had to see that on the way to school."

Gardai attended the scene and have begun the process of questioning locals and examining nearby CCTV evidence.

They are appealing for help from witnesses or anyone who may have been driving through the region on Monday May 7th or in the early hours of Tuesday May 8th and spotted someone trespassing or behaving suspiciously.

They are hoping someone may have caught the culprit on their dash cam.

Anyone with information is being encouraged to contact Fermoy Garda Station on 025 82100. Witnesses wishing to remain anonymous can also get in touch via the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
