A dumfounded pensioner had to call the police after returning home to find a naked stranger soaking in his bathtub... with a beverage.
The homeowner, who lives in Stoke-on-Trent, dialled 999 but the nude intruder quickly "fled the property" – leaving his clothes behind in the process.
In what police have called a “highly unusual episode”, the man made himself a drink before climbing into the bath at the property in the Longton area of the city.
The naked raider – a 36-year-old man of no fixed address – was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of burglary.
He was taken into custody but no further action was taken.
Staffordshire Police explained that “following an assessment, the man’s safeguarding needs were addressed”.
Chief Inspector Karen Stevenson said: “This was a highly unusual episode and not one we see every day.
“I’d like to reassure local residents that this was a completely isolated incident and there’s no reason to be alarmed.”
