A MAN who died after falling from the top floor of a London restaurant earlier this month has been named as Dublin native Michael Halligan.
Mr Halligan, 29, was on a short visit to London when the incident occurred on the evening of January 17.
The Irishman was visiting Coq d’Argent, a rooftop brasserie on Queen Victoria Street near Bank tube station in Central London.
He died after falling from the seventh floor rooftop garden, which is secured by six-foot barriers.
The heartbroken Halligan family said that he would be “very sadly missed”, asking sympathisers to donate to suicide prevention charity Pieta House in lieu of floral tributes.
Mr Halligan, a Vodafone employee, was a part-time student at Dublin Business School.
He lived in Stuttgart, Germany and Paris, France as well as his native Clondalkin, Dublin over the past few years.
His death is not being treated as suspicious, with an inquest due to open next month.
His employer, Vodafone released a statement following news of his death.
“Vodafone is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Michael Halligan, a Vodafone Ireland Retail employee, while on personal travel in the UK,” it read.
“Vodafone offers sincere condolences to Michael’s family and friends.
“The company wants to respect the privacy and wishes of Michael’s family and has no further comment.”
Mr Halligan is survived by his father Michael and siblings James, Martin, Julian and Luke.
He was predeceased by his late mother Dolores and brother Carl.
His funeral details will be announced in the coming days.
