Status orange weather warning issued for seven counties

SNOW AND ICE have been predicted for Saturday night up until Monday morning.

A status orange snow and ice warning has been given for seven counties in Ireland.

According to Met Éireann, the counties of Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford have been advised to be wary of the oncoming weather.

Heavy showers of snow are set to fall overnight and lead to accumulations on the ground.

The warning for the aforementioned counties was issued this evening at 8 pm and will remain valid until 9 am tomorrow morning.

A status yellow snow-ice warning has also been issued for the rest of Ireland, which is valid until 9 am on Monday morning.

It's set to be very cold for the rest of the weekend with winds, chilly spells and icy patches - so wrap up warm if you're venturing out with your Paddy's Day hangover!
