Irish school in Dublin perform brilliantly improvised Haka as Gaelige in front of All Blacks

THE build-up to Ireland’s second Test against New Zealand is gaining momentum and one group of Irish kids have already tried to psyche out the All Blacks.

The 6th class students at Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada in Lucan, Dublin, were paid a visit by the World Cup winners this week, and were taken by surprise as the tables were turned.

They performed a special Haka for the All Blacks, using their own Gaeilge chants, followed by a poem before concluding with a unique rendition of Ireland’s Call.

Niall Leech, who shot the whole thing, described the performance as “beautiful”.

“This beautifully written poem contains a subtle nod to Maori heroes, including Jonah Lomu and Apirana Ngata and Irish Legends from Cú Chulainn to Anthony Foley,” he on the YouTube video description.

“Whether from Ireland or New Zealand this beautiful and passionate performance will fill you with pride.”
