A FORMER PSNI officer has been arrested on suspicion of serious sexual offences.
The Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland said the arrest was made on Wednesday following a complaint and the commencement of a criminal investigation.
It added that the former officer was detained for 'several, non-recent offences alleged to have been committed while he was on-duty and a serving police officer'.
As well as the serious sexual offences, he was also arrested over alleged Misconduct in Public Office.
