Gardaí appeal for information following 'unexplained death' of man found dead in Cork

GARDAÍ HAVE launched an appeal for information following the discovery of a man's body in Cork city.

Gardaí are examining all circumstances surrounding the 'unexplained death' of the man, who has been named as 35-year-old Gary Dineen.

On 12 August, Mr Dineen's body was found at Merchant's Quay Car Park on the Parnell Place side shortly after 11.30 in the morning.

The scene was preserved and shortly thereafter underwent a technical examination, and a post-mortem was performed on Mr Dineen.

  • Anyone who was with Mr Dineen between Saturday, 8 August and Wednesday 12 August
  • Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious or unusual in Merchant Quay Car Park and the surrounding area from 8 August to 12 August
  • Anybody who used the Merchant Quay Car Park between 8 and 12 August and may have noticed something unusual, particularly any motorists with dash cam footage of the car park

It is believed Mr Dineen may have been dead for around two days before his body was discovered.
