Gardaí appeal for witnesses as elderly man dies after his car enters the sea in Galway

A MAN has died after his car entered the sea in Kinvara, Co Galway.

The driver, a man in his late 70s, was the sole occupant of the car when it entered the sea in The Quay area of the County Galway town on Halloween night at approximately 8pm.

Emergency services arrived on the scene and the man was taken to University Hospital Galway by ambulance in a critical condition.

The elderly man passed away in hospital yesterday evening, 31st October.

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. They are particularly interested in hearing from any motorists who were in The Quay area of Kinvara between 7.45pm - 8.13pm who may have dash cam footage of the incident.

Kinvara is a small sea-port village in the south of County Galway in the West of Ireland, situated approximately 30 kms from Galway city.

Recently, Gardaí made another appeal for witnesses after a hit-and-run collision left a woman in Cork with "life-changing injuries.

They are looking for dashcam footage from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
