'Hash cake' accidentally served at funeral in Germany - mirroring hilarious Derry Girls scene

CAKE containing marijuana was accidentally served at a funeral in Germany.

The incident happened following a burial service in Wiethagen, near Rostock in the west of the country.

As is tradition in Germany, mourners travelled to a nearby restaurant for coffee and cake.

However, local police were soon called to the scene after 13 people reported feeling sick and dizzy and needed medical attention having eaten some of the cake provided.

Police are investigated the 18-year-old daughter of the restaurant owner, who had been put in charge of baking the cake for the funeral party.

Allegedly, her mother accidentally took the wrong cake out of the freezer after it was placed next to the cake intended to be served at the funeral.

The teenager had apparently baked the 'hash cake' for personal consumption at another occasion, according to the Associated Press.

The incident happened in August but wasn't published immediately out of respect for the mourners.

Funnily enough, a spookily (it's nearly Halloween after all) similar situation played out in Irish sitcom Derry Girls.

Instead of cake, it was scones that were filled with cannabis and accidentally served at a wake, leaving the group scrambling to try and retrieve them all as their relatives begin to get high and starting acting strange.

Watch the clip below, hopefully the situation in Germany played out a little better than this:
