Man charged in relation to murder of Bobby Messett in Bray Boxing Club shooting

A MAN has been charged in relation to the murder of Bobby Messett at Bray Boxing Club in June.

Mr Messett, a 50-year-old father-of-three, died when a gunman opened fire during an early-morning gym session at the club.

Tonight, a man in his 30s appeared before a special sitting of Bray District Court, which was due to get under way at 10.30pm.

A woman in her 20s, arrested in Dublin on Saturday evening as part of the investigation, has been released without charge.

Mr Messett was among around 20 people at the gym when a gunman entered just before 7am on June 5 and opened fire.

Two other men, including Pete Taylor – father of Irish Olympic boxing champion Katie Taylor – were injured in the shooting,
