Gardaí treating death as suspicious after body found in search for teen Anastasia Kriegel

GARDAÍ investigating the disappearance of a teenage girl in Dublin say they are treating the discovery of a body as suspicious.

Anastasia Kriegel, 14, from Leixlip, Co. Kildare, was last seen at St Catherine’s Park, Lucan at 5.30pm on Monday.

Gardaí carrying out a search for the teenager discovered the body at 1pm on Thursday in a disused farmhouse on the Clonee Road in Lucan.

The site is approximately 1km from St Catherine’s Park.

Speaking this evening, Superintendent John Gordon of Lucan Garda Station said: “We believe the body to the that of Ana Kriegel.

“We are, at this time, treating the death as suspicious.”

State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy conducted a preliminary examination at the scene on Thursday evening.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out.

Asked about Anastasia's family, Superintendent Gordon added: “They are receiving a lot of support from An Garda Síochána but they are extremely distressed.”
