Shocking footage shows boy allegedly driving lorry on motorway in Northern Ireland

A POLICE investigation is underway after a video surfaced online appearing to show a child driving a lorry on a motorway in Northern Ireland.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is investigating the source of the clip, which was reportedly shared on Snapchat.

In the footage, a young boy can be seen sitting in the driver’s seat of a lorry.

He appears to be steering the vehicle which is driving along the motorway as the video is recorded.

A male voice can be heard on the clip instructing the child on how to steer the vehicle.

The boy can be clearly seen holding the wheel of the vehicle as it makes its way down the busy stretch of motorway road.

According to a report from RTE, the clip was filmed on the M1 motorway near Dungannon in Co Tyrone.

The PSNI has now confirmed it is making inquiries into the incident.

A spokesperson acknowledged that the footage shows a boy "clearly under the age of gaining a valid driving licence driving a lorry while in the presence of an adult".

"We have received a report and are aware of footage which has been shared on social media and are making inquiries," they said.

Police are appealing for anyone who recognises the boy or the voice on the video to get in touch.
